Joy of the Lord

About a month ago I had a student approach me and ask if he could get baptized. He fully committed his life to Christ this past fall. There were also two more students who accepted Christ this past fall who I also approached about getting baptized. Both are students who have taken big steps in their faith in the past few months. One student told me she had been thinking about getting baptized at church the previous week; the other student said she had been wanting to get baptized for a while but didn’t know how.

I’ve never seen such excitement in students leading up to a baptism. We met with the students about baptism and talked through why they were taking this important step. Within a matter of weeks we had a small baptismal service setup. One local church had a pastor willing to host a service, and another church allowed us to use their building.

Numerous people from the community, family members, people from the local church running the service, and even students showed up to support the students in this step of faith!

I’m in awe of God’s faithfulness in the lives of these students and the many people who showed up to support them. I can’t even describe the joy on the students’ faces as they came up out of the water, but — wow. I’m so excited to see how God is going to use them as they’re openly expressing their faith and striving to grow closer to Him!
